Promoting Entrepreneurship, Spirit and Support for Women and Youth
Pilot Phase of the project is budgeted at US $12,000
The Rural Women's Empowerment Project provides entrepreneurship and vocational training to 100 rural women in the processing of fruits, vegetables, and cereals, dyeing and textile development and production of soap and bleach in order to promote income generating activities and sustainable employment. This is a pilot program which will be implemented on a larger scale after the initial phase.
Women will:
a. Makes juices and jams from locally grown fruit and vegetables such as madd and ditakh (local fruits indigenous to Senegal), hibiscus (bissap), tamarind, ginger, papaya, pumpkin and sweet potato.
b. Learn to transform local cereals such as millet, corn, niebe (black eyed peas), and sweet potato.
c. Learn to dye fabrics and make soap and bleach in an environmentally friendly way.
We will help women to set up small stores to sell their products in rural and local markets, encourage collaboration among women's groups and will encourage consumption of locally made products in rural areas.

Lalla Fall
A contract and procurement specialist with 25 years experience in USAID programs, organizing and managing nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) Lalla Fall is highly skilled in Federal Acquisition Regulation Procedures, preparation and solicitations and executing small purchase procurement actions up to $100,000.
Since 2008, she has been the National Coordinator for Reseau Faraal Djigueeni Senegal, a network of over 1,000 women's associations, economic interest groups and business organizations dedicated to the empowerment of rural women.
Versatile and motivated with a track record of results oriented achievements in economics, business, marketing, translation and accounting. Strong diversified skills with particular strengths in linguistics, organizing projects, operations and procedures with nine years experience in diverse industries in the United States and Senegal.
